NAM model captured from a Japanese-made Maxon OD-9, dialed in as a clean boost and calibrated for consistent response.
The Maxon OD-9 follows the classic TS9-style circuit, built with the JRC4558D chip and true bypass switching. This removes the FET-based switching components found in the original TS9 from the signal path, resulting in a slightly more direct and uncolored response. It is hand-wired and hand-soldered in the traditional style.
This capture uses a straightforward boost configuration with the overdrive set to minimum, balance maxed, and tone at 1 o’clock. The result is a tight, mid-focused push with a familiar Tube Screamer character—ideal for tightening low end, adding clarity, and driving an amp without introducing significant additional gain.
Boost settings:
Overdrive: min
Balance: max
Tone: 1 o'clock
The models are calibrated for reliable gain staging.
Reamp chain:
Motu M4 > Lehle P-Spilt III > Maxon OD808 > Motu M4
This capture focuses on delivering the OD-9’s classic midrange emphasis and clean boost behavior in a simple, mix-ready form.
